Upcycle Barn Stars!

Around Christmas, I found this link on Pinterest on how to make barn stars out of cardboard so stashing the cardboard began! I love how these turned out. They are really simple to make and it's a great way to recycle which I love also. I believe this is the link on my board. You may also like to try using scrapbook paper to mix it up a bit. I make a Sponge Bob star for my grandson for my daughter's Christmas tree and he loved it!

On my stars, I used a foam brush to paint three coats of white acrylic paint on the star and once it dried I dry brushed some burnt umber (dark brown) across the star points to give them a 'metal' look. These are super easy and look fabulous on any prim themed tree. I use mine in my home decor for day to day use.

Primtive Gingerbread Men Ornament Recipe

I have been surfing the net for a really good gingerbread ornament recipe over the last few months and I came across this one. I wanted darker gingers (hard to see in the pic) so for the cinnamon I used 2 Tbsp., 1-1/2 Tbsp. of each Cloves and Nutmeg. They puffed up nicely which was different from using salt dough. These were a little moist so I may change it up or just try some of the other recipes I've pinned in my Pinterest account under Lee Anne Ingram @lahomespun in the "Gingie Love" board.

For the 'frosting', I used puffy fabric paint to add a little detail. I need a bit of practice on this for future use. These looks like a grade school kid did them! lol!
